Why Fenton? Our Vision for the Fenton Community
We are not a church that simply happens to be located in Fenton. We are a church that loves Fenton, prays for Fenton, and believes God has called us to serve this specific community with the Gospel.
## Planted Here on Purpose
Churches don't end up in their communities by accident. God plants them. And for over 175 years, God has planted First Baptist Church in Fenton, Michigan — not just to exist here, but to serve here.
We are not a regional megachurch drawing people from a 50-mile radius. We are a neighborhood church with deep roots in a specific ZIP code, a specific school district, a specific community of people with specific needs, struggles, and hopes.
We believe that is exactly where God wants us to be.

## Who Is Fenton?
Fenton is a city of approximately 12,000 people in Genesee County, situated along the Shiawassee River in southeast Michigan. It is the kind of place where people still know their neighbors, where local sports matter, where families have lived for multiple generations, and where community still means something.
It is also — like every community in America — a place that is changing. Families are under pressure. Mental health struggles are rising. The search for meaning and belonging is real and felt. The institutions that once held communities together — churches, civic organizations, extended families — have in many cases weakened.
Fenton is not a spiritually indifferent place. But it is a place that needs the Gospel to be clearly and lovingly proclaimed. It is a place that needs a church that will tell the truth, welcome the struggling, and build the kind of genuine community that the human heart is designed for.
That is why we are here.

## Our Vision for Fenton
We want to see Fenton changed — not by political power or cultural influence, but by the ordinary, extraordinary work of the Gospel in individual lives, families, and relationships.
Here is what that looks like in practice:
**We want every person in Fenton to have a genuine opportunity to hear the Gospel.** Not just to drive past a church building. Not just to see a yard sign. But to be in relationship with someone from FBC Fenton who loves them, serves them, and shares the hope they have in Jesus.
**We want FBC Fenton to be a resource for the whole community.** Marriages struggling? We have biblical counseling. Families in need? Our congregation gives and serves generously. Someone grieving, addicted, lost, or lonely? We want to be the kind of church people can call. Not a closed community for the already-convinced, but a living demonstration of the love of Christ.
**We want to be known as a church that tells the truth.** Our culture is drowning in noise, spin, and fear. We want to be a place where people can come and hear real answers — not comfortable platitudes, but the truth of God's Word applied with love to the actual situations people are living.
**We want to raise a generation of disciples, not just church attendees.** Through Awana, youth ministry, children's programs, and family discipleship, we want the next generation in Fenton to grow up knowing who Jesus is and what it means to follow Him.

## Local Presence, Global Mission
Loving Fenton doesn't mean ignoring the rest of the world. One of the marks of a healthy local church is that its love for its own community overflows into love for the world.
At FBC Fenton, we are actively engaged in global missions — supporting partners in Pakistan, India, and Thailand who are bringing the Gospel to places where it is rarely heard. We believe that the same God who sent us to Fenton has sent others to the ends of the earth, and we are privileged to be part of that global story through our giving, our prayer, and our partnerships.
Local and global are not in competition. In fact, churches that are deeply engaged in global mission tend to be more serious and effective about local mission. The vision is the same: every person in every place needs to hear the Gospel.

## How You Can Be Part of This
If you live in Fenton or the surrounding area, we want to invite you — warmly and specifically — to consider becoming part of what God is doing at FBC Fenton.
You don't have to agree with everything we believe to walk through our doors. You just have to be willing to come and look. Come on a Sunday morning. Ask questions. Meet the people. See if this community is what you've been looking for.
If you are already a follower of Jesus and you're looking for a church home in the Fenton area, we would love to talk with you about whether FBC Fenton might be where God is calling you to plant yourself and serve.
The Fenton community needs the Gospel. We need more people who believe it, love it, and are willing to live it out where they work, play, and raise their families.
**We are at 119 W Caroline Street, Fenton, MI 48430.** Services are at 9:00 AM and 10:45 AM every Sunday. We would love to see you.

## A Prayer for Fenton
We close with a simple prayer that reflects the heartbeat of FBC Fenton:
*Lord, use us in Fenton. Let the people of this city hear the Gospel clearly. Let the families of this community find real help and real hope. Let our church be a light in this place for as long as You plant us here. And may the day come when we can say: God was faithful in Fenton.*
Amen.
