Meet the team of pastors and leaders who are dedicated to serving our church and community.
Pastor James Bell came to faith in Christ as a converted atheist while studying at a secular university — an experience that ignited in him a lifelong passion for the gospel and for people who are still asking hard questions. After college, he moved to North Carolina to serve the homeless in the inner city, and God used that season to deepen his burden for the people of his hometown. He joined First Baptist Church of Fenton as Lead Teaching Pastor in July 2016.
Pastor James preaches expositionally through books of the Bible every Sunday at 10:30 AM, with a style that is clear, honest, and anchored in real life. He is passionate about equipping every believer — not just church professionals — to live out their faith with conviction and joy.
Outside the pulpit, Pastor James is husband to Susanna and dad to five boys: Titus, Timothy, Tatum, Toby, and Theo. His home is loud, full of life, and a picture of exactly the kind of community he hopes FBC Fenton will be.
Pastor Cody came to faith at age 16 — the moment he realized he had been trusting in his own morality rather than in Jesus. One year later, he felt a clear pull toward working in ministry full-time, with a heart for teenagers. That burden has never left him. He earned a B.A. in Youth Ministry and joined the staff of First Baptist Church of Fenton in July 2017 as Families Pastor.
As Families Pastor, Pastor Cody leads Kids Ministry, Student Ministry, and family discipleship programming at FBC. He is committed to building environments where children and youth don't just attend church — they actually believe it, build real friendships, and grow into people who take their faith seriously. He works closely with parents, believing that discipleship starts in the home.
Pastor Cody is married to his wife Alyssa, and together they are raising three daughters: Audrey, Avery, and Addison. He leads out of the same conviction he preaches: that the gospel changes everything, starting with your family.
Laurie Campau has been leading worship at First Baptist Church of Fenton since 2016, and in that time she has become one of the most beloved voices in the life of this church. Her worship is not a performance — it is an invitation. Week after week, she creates an environment where distracted, tired, ordinary people can stop, breathe, and actually be present for something that matters.
Laurie's approach to worship ministry is rooted in Scripture, driven by genuine joy, and marked by a contagious love for the people she leads. She is passionate about developing other worshipers — not just musicians — and about making sure that no one in the room feels like a spectator.
Laurie and her husband Brent have been married for over 12 years. Together they are raising five children: Noel, Annaleise, Lincoln, Aksel, and Krew. Her family is her first ministry, and it shows in the way she leads.
We're led by a team of elders and supported by seven core ministry teams:
Everyone has a role to play. If you're ready to serve, there's a place for you.
We're focused on:
We're not about performance or polish. We're about the gospel, real community, and being faithful to the mission of Jesus.
